Prof Dr Katja Schenke-Layland

Principal Investigator, Working at EKUT - Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen - Department of Women's Health Research Institute for Women's Health

Katja is the Professor of Biomaterials in Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine at the University Women's Hospital Tübingen, and the Head of the Department of Cell and Tissue Engineering at the Fraunhofer IGB in Stuttgart. Prof. Schenke-Layland has authored 77 publications with over 2400 citations and has an h-index of 24. Over the past 5 years, she has acquired large national and international collaborative funding in the field of regenerative medicine at a value of over €5 million.
For example, her team at Fraunhofer IGB is an important partner the FP7 NMP project AMCARE. She supervises over 20 scientists in her group at EKUT and more than 50 scientists in her department at Fraunhofer IGB. Her team includes scientists and engineers with expertise in biomaterials and medical product design, medicinal product and advanced therapy medical product (ATMP) certification processes, the development of human-based three-dimensional in vitro test systems, stem cell and extracellular matrix biology, and (non-invasive) biomedical imaging.
