Dr Helena Kelly

Deputy Coordinator, Working at RCSI - Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

Helena graduated with a BSc (Pharm) from Trinity College, Dublin (TCD) and subsequently carried out PhD research in the area of hydrogels and sustained drug delivery in the Department of Pharmaceutics, TCD. After completing her PhD she worked in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry for a number of years. In 2008 she was appointed Lecturer in Pharmaceutics in the School of Pharmacy, RCSI. From January 2012 to March 2014 she was seconded as Project Manager for the establishment of the Irish Institute of Pharmacy (IIoP). Since her return, Helena has been PI and Deputy Co-ordinator of the AMCARE Consortium, with focus on production of hydrogels for cardiac repair following MI. She will also act as Deputy Co-ordinator of the DRIVE Consortium and brings significant biomaterial expertise as well as production, pharmaceutical and regulatory experience from her time in industry.
