Dr Aiden Flanagan

Principal Investigator, Working at BSCI - Boston Scientific

Dr Flanagan is a Principal Research & Development Engineer in the R&D Department of Boston Scientific Ireland in Galway and specializes in technology and process development. Aiden joined BSC in 1995 as an R&D Engineer and has worked on many projects from Stents, Balloon Catheters, Drug Eluting Stents, to Innovation processes.

He is recognized as a subject matter expert in lasers, design of experiments, IP generation and the Stanford Biodesign process. He obtained a BSc in Experimental Physics & Mathematics from National University of Ireland, Maynooth, a MSc in Optoelectronics from Queens University in Belfast, and a PhD in Experimental Physics from National University of Ireland, Galway in conjunction with Digital Equipment Corporation. 

Aiden was a consultant for Panasonic Technologies (MIT), a manufacturing engineer for Summit Technology, and then joined Boston Scientific. He holds 43 US patents on medical devices and related technologies, was awarded the BSC John Abele Science & Technology Award, and the BSC Outstanding Patent Award.
